What is DNS Filtering?
DNS Filtering is a new security service we’re implementing for our clients and is an additional level of protection against new cyber threats such as what caused the Colonial Pipeline ransomware incident earlier this year, the Solar Winds attack last year, or the Kaseya attack of a few months ago.
Imagine this scenario. You schedule your dog Lassie’s grooming appointments online at your pet groomer’s website. In the middle of the night last night, hackers attacked your pet groomer website – it was safe when you visited it yesterday to look at the available openings; but today if you visit the website, it’s going to infect your computer with ransomware.
DNS Filtering utilizes artificial intelligence to monitor websites and internet destinations in real time to make sure they’re safe to visit today. When you try to visit Lassie’s groomers website today after it had been attacked – your computer won’t allow access to the website.
In this video, SmartPath’s CEO Willie Kerns interviews Kevin Herndon of DNS Filter, Inc. for a non-geek speak explanation of what DNS filtering is and why businesses need it.
